One of our crowning achievements in recent times is our complete restoration and revitalisation of this villa found in Ponsonby.
Dan + Michelle approached us with a very specific vision. We were chosen as the team to help deliver this project due to our vast construction experience. And it wasn't for the faint of heart!
This villa is a quintessential central Auckland home. Built over a hundred years ago, it is nestled in what can only be described as a cute row of character homes. This area has since been deemed 'special character' by local authorities and, as such, comes with an extra layer of requirements to ensure characteristics are preserved.
So the challenge is, how do you turn a small villa into a modern, spacious home fit for a family? You lift it! The home was lifted to achieve more space on the same footprint, and a basement/rumpus room was created under the house. This allowed the back end of the home to be opened up, creating flawless open-plan living onto a flat back lawn.
With a beautiful kitchen designed by Annika Rowson from Rowson Kitchens and some great material selections by the client, the home is modern while respecting the original home's history and flavour. The floor is mirrored by a floor on the ceiling giving an endless feeling and flow to the home.
Built during the throws of COVID-19, there were challenges abound. But the home was delivered on budget and to the highest building standards.
The home was accepted into Revere Magazine, a publication for New Zealand Certified Builders members to showcase their skill and craftsmanship.
