Our building team is our greatest asset
Meet Our Management Team
Having started his working career in the Hawke's Bay alongside his brother Ryan, Nathan always took an interest in the construction industry. However, when the Global Financial Crisis hit in 2008, Nathan decided to study electrical engineering.
After completing his degree, he worked for KiwiRail (NZ's largest transport company), designing and project managing the installation of control systems. The latter part of his career in the transport industry also gave him experience in leadership and strategic asset management.
Oddly enough, during this time, Nathan leaned on some of the key things he learnt while working as a tradesman, which put him in good standing for a successful career in the corporate environment.
However, there was always the pull of the construction industry. Nathan always took an interest in talking to Ryan about how things could be improved in the building industry and the opportunities to work on exciting projects building people's dream homes.
So when the time came to join Ryan at Our Projects, it wasn't a hard decision. Now every day is about constant improvement and building homes that make him proud to be a part of the team.
Ryan Strawbridge
Project Manager
Qualified Builder
Hailing from the flat lands of the mighty Manawatu, Ryan comes from multiple generations of 'farming tradesmen' (tradesmen that seem to enjoy the added stress of being farmers too). Experiencing this first-hand, he decided to fight fate and be anything but a builder like his father.
So off he went to try his hand at multiple jobs - from onion picking, to bartending, to a truck and earthworks operator. Nothing quite fitted for him. Eventually, the call of the rugby shorts all year round, sawdust sammies, 'natural black' fingernail polish and sandpaper hands won him over.
Ryan spent his early building years in the central and lower North Island, learning to build character homes, villa renovations and light commercial work.
In 2007 he took the classic two-year Kiwi OE to the UK, where he was able to further his skills working on loft conversions and historic buildings and, of course, drinking warm beer at the pub. Then arriving back in New Zealand, he landed in Wellington, where he spent a year working on commercial construction.
Both Auckland and the Waikato regions have given him amazing opportunities to manage and build awesome homes. From large villa renovations to smaller bespoke builds, and multi-million dollar architectural masterpieces, this work is his passion.
